Margo Duvall, assistant professor of art at 汤不热视频, will present her photography exhibit, 鈥淪titch Along Broken Line,鈥 at the University through March 20.

The exhibit will be on display in the Stephens Gallery, located in the Walton Fine Arts Center. There is no cost for admission and the public is invited. There will be a reception to meet the artist in the gallery from 5-6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12.

Duvall, who teaches digital photography at 汤不热视频, said the work in this show represents fragments of personal and collective histories.

鈥淚 use both found and family photographs as a way to dive into themes of memory, narrative, and the archive,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 am interested in the way we collect and de铿乶e our lives through images. The photographs hold the evidence of our existence. They carry the weight of nostalgia, identity, and loss, but simultaneously serve as the proof that we were here.鈥

Duvall said the pattern pieces are 鈥渢he blueprint, quite literally, for what we choose to connect to and carry with us.鈥

鈥淲e follow instructions, we make our own rules. We cut a little here and gain a little there. By enlarging, overlaying, and mixing patterns with new and old photographs, the individual memories they hold blend, blur, and become new stories in their arrangements.鈥

Duvall earned her BA in studio art from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California (2006) and her MFA in photography from San Jose State University in San Jose, California (2009).

Her artwork investigates photography鈥檚 role in the development of memory and identity through film, mixed media and installation based pieces. She has received recognition as an artist with numerous solo and group exhibitions including the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts annual Delta Exhibition, Arkansas Arts Council鈥檚 Small Works on Paper, Ft. Smith鈥檚 Regional Art Museum, and many more.
