There are two stages to studying The LPC. The first involves completing four compulsory modules; the second allows you to make a selection of focused modules, depending on your interest areas and which version of the course you’re studying.

Eligibility

To be eligible to take up your place on The LPC, you must comply with the requirements for commencing The LPC set out by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

  • Students must possess either a Qualifying Law Degree usually at 2:2 or above, or a Common Professional Examination (CPE)/Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) or similar qualification such as CILEX.
  • Your law degree must meet certain academic standards in order to qualify. This must include having adequately passed assessments in the seven Foundations of Legal Knowledge; Public Law, Obligations I (Contract), Obligations II (Tort), Criminal Law, Land Law, Equity & Trusts and Law of the European Union.
  • An English language qualification at a level equivalent to IELTS 6.5 or above with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.
